How I Came To Islam

ASSALAAMAULIKUM  DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS
At one time in my life i was Christian but always searching for something to answer all my questions I had in my soul and my oldest son at the time was a bit rebellious and hard to control, he was only 15 then and I was a single mother as his father and I had divorced when he was only 8 years old .. Anyways , He ended up having to go to a  boys school in Indianapolis , Indiana which by the grace and mercy of Allah ended up being best for Him, and for me, as a brother  there spoke to him about Islam.
My son studied and watched Videos and ended up taking Shahadah at a very young age(15) and i saw such a change  in his behaviour and his respect towards me , he seemed to ‘glow’ when he did his prayers..I decided i wanted whatever THAT was that he had embraced for myself as well….
Together we traveled to a dawah center in Milwaukee , Wisconsin, USA and my son was a witness to his Mother taking shahadah, Alhamdullilah..  ALMOST 15 YEARS AGO…..This was only after asking many questions, watching videos of Sheikh Ahmed Deedat and  Jamal Badawi and others debating Christians, also after talking to many sisters and doing many prayers..

In my life today its a little hard leading a good Islamic way of life because the nearest Mosque is over 300 miles from me so i dont have that convenience and there are only maybe 5 or 6 Muslims within a 25 mile radius from where i live even..I get most of my advice from Sisters online , My daughter in law or my son who live in Singapore now with my granddaughter, or from reputable websites…I have a hard time wearing hijab in public as many poeple are still uneducated and misinformed since 9/11…I do wear it when i pray and i have given up Pork and I am looking so forward to Ramadhan… I will not complain about the heat only that I live to see it and am able to pray more and more  and have more dhikr in sha allah.
Reading the quran is a blessing and I feel we all take it for granted and I am not educated as far as hadiths but for me the Quran is enough… Getting up early for Fajr prayers is even yet today a little hard on me however IN SHA ALLAH I feel so Close to Allah during prayers and especially the 1st one of the day that I try hard not to miss it!! I love hearing the birds singing in the summer as they also get up for prayers!
Another reason I chose Islam is that it goes hand in hand with Science….so many things are in the quran that Science has proven are accurate.. Embryology, Origin of the universe, Mountains , Clouds , Seas and rivers….Allah is indeed Most Merciful to give us all this information…. I feel that its our responsibility to teach others who will listen what WE know to be the TRUTH and I dont feel any Muslim should judge one another as Allah swt is THE JUDGE of us all!
I have a disability in my feet that I now look at as a blessing because perhaps in Jannah I will have perfect feet! I have 4 children and 2 are Muslims and the other 2 are still searching although they do both believe in 1  God Subhanallah.. I still pray that both they and my fiance embrace Islam soon. I dont agree with all the divisions of like Sunni and Shia etc etc as in the Quran Allah says : Surah 3:103-105 And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allâh (i.e. this Qur’ân), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allâh’s Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islâmic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allâh makes His Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided.
And be not as those who divided and differed among themselves after the clear proofs had come to them. It is they for whom there is an awful torment…. I feel we should all be united as One Ummah and i wish more people understood our Faith and why we call God , Allah etc…. More education is needed! I’d like to thank Alquran Classes for giving me this opportunity, jazak Allah to speak.. May Allah continue to guide and bless us all ..ameen
